Built by Hawthorn Leslie #3574 of 1923, Burra
was ordered by Corrimal Colliery as a replacement for their two aging
Krauss locomotives. She worked a one mile colliery line hauling
skips between the mine entrance and a self acting incline. In
1968 Burra was placed on display at the AI&S (BHP) Port Kembla
steel works visitor centre. Subsequently the engine was
transferred to the Illawarra Light Railway Museum who restored and now
operate her. The June 2003 issue of the LRRSA's Light Railways
magazine had an article covering all of the Corrimal Colliery
locomotives including Burra.
