Sunset Valley Track
from Argyle

Sunset Valley Railroad is a leading and innovative manufacturer of precision quality Gauge O and 1 track and related products.

The Sunset Valley Railroad Freedom Flex Track line includes aluminium, weathered-brass or weathered-nickel silver rail. It is offered in four styles of 12 inch long moulded tie strips, twelve different sizes of turnouts, stamped rail joiners, rail clamps, rail height adapter joiners, track gauges, manual switch stands, and the Curvemaker rail bender.

The complete line is built around a standard six-foot long piece of Code 250 rail made of either cold drawn brass, nickel silver or extruded aluminium to insure dimensional stability by eliminating twists and enhancing workability. Depending upon the scale that you operate in, 1/32, 1/29, 1/24, 1/22.5, 1/20, code 250 is a realistically sized engineering choice for your miniature railroad needs. It represents 130lb, 100lb, 90lb or 65 lb rail dependent upon the individual scale. All of these weights are within the realm of possibilities utilized for prototype construction.

All of the tie strips use staggered ties (so that the track doesn't look like it was laid with a giant straight edge) and the tie plates are moulded to represent U.S. placement and practice. The spike heads, 4 per tie, are also moulded in varying patterns (not lined up like little toy soldiers). Finally, the ties are held together by a single centre spine ¼" wide by 1/8" high, each with a male and a female end making it a snap to join pieces. The advantage to this method is that it allows you a place to secure the track (in pre-moulded locating holes) without driving screws through the tops of the ties and to provide a convenient reminder of the centreline of your track. When ballasted, the strip disappears.

The tie strips are made from UV stabilized polypropylene and are dark brown in colour.

Freedom Flex Track
Main Line Gauge 1 track
(16 ties/foot)

Ties are 1/4" high by 5/16" wide by 3 3/16" long, have a slightly finer wood grain than the Branch Line ties, and are spaced 16 ties to the foot. This represents a 4'  8 1/4" standard gauge track for modelling in 1:32, 10 mm/ft and 1:29 scales.
Dual Gauge O and 1 track
(10 ties/foot)

Tie spacing and tie dimensions are similar to our Narrow Gauge style, but is set up to receive a 3rd offset rail. The addition of the third rail allows the use of either 0 Gauge (32 mm) or Gauge 1 (45 mm) trains on the same railroad.

Narrow Gauge 1 track
(10 ties/foot)

Ties are 1/4" high by 5/16" wide by 3 1/2" long, wood grained, and are spaced 10 ties to the foot. This represents a 3' narrow gauge track for modelling in 1:20.3 (F) and 1 meter gauge for modelling 1:22.5 (G) scales.
Narrow Gauge O track
(10 ties/foot)

Ties are 1/4" high by 5/16" wide by 3 1/2" long, wood grained, and are spaced 10 ties to the foot. This represents a 2' narrow gauge track for modelling in 16 mm/ft (SM32)
